• February 2024 Dr. Barua’s manuscript Photo-addressable microwell devices for rapid functional screening and isolation of pathogen inhibitors from bacterial strain libraries is published in Biomicrofluidics. A summary of the paper is available on AIP Kudos.

• November 2023 Dr. Fattahi’s manuscript Polyethylene glycol hydrogel coatings for protection of electroactive bacteria against chemical shocks is published in Bioelectrochemistry.

• August 2023 The proposal “Supporting rural livelhoods in the water-stressed Central High Plains: Microbial innovations for climate-resilient agriculture (MICRA)” is selected for funding by the National Science Foundation. Learn more about the MICRA project here.

• July 2023 The NSF INTERN for Dr. Hansen’s CAREER project is selected for funding. The project will enable a collaboration between the Hansen lab and the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences and the Biological at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

• June-July 2023 Dr. Hansen teaches Fundamentals of Material Science abroad through the KSU Italy program.

• April 2023 Dr. Barua’s manuscript Screening the maize rhizobiome for consortia that improve Azospirillum brasilense root colonization and plant growth outcomes is published in Frontiers of Sustainable Food Systems. 

• October 2022 Moises' manuscript Investigating a Microbial Approach to Water Conservation in Semi-Arid Regions: Effects of Bacillus subtilis and Surfactin on Evaporation Dynamics in Loam and Sandy Loam Soils is published in Frontiers of Sustainable Food Systems. 

• October 2022 Dr. Wenbap (recent visiting scholar in Hansen lab, from King Mongkut University of Technology, Thonburi) publishes his manuscript titled: Combining Immunomagnetic Separation (IMS) with Multiplex PCR Assay for Simultaneous, Rapid Detection of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in the Journal of Nanomaterials. 

• February 2022 Dr. Hansen is awarded a U.S. patent titled Hydrogel Membrane and Methods for Selective Retrieval of Microbial Targets.
