Hansen Biointerface Lab

The Hansen Biointerface Lab is focused on the design of new materials and interfaces for use in microbial biotechnology. Using integrated and inter-disciplinary approaches in polymer science, micro and nano fabrication, and microbiology, we design biological materials that (1) improve our capacity to screen, isolate and characterize bacteria and (2) preserve their function in real-world environments and when integrated into biohybrid systems. Our projects address the growing need to provide sustainable solutions to clean water, energy, and food production.
